Forgiveness, Is It Worth It?

It’s the New Year 2011. We all hope it will be better than the last year where we will accomplish new things and get to do all the things we always wanted to do. Here is a question though; will forgiveness be one of your New Year’s resolutions?

We all have been hurt by too many or a few people in our lives; grieves are engraved for a reason or another; relationships get broken; friendships go away and betrayals do happen.

Too many people live their lives unforgiving to those who did them wrong and hurt them badly. It just makes them feel better, to be able to rest that unhappiness on him or her who led them down. They have got someone to blame for their misfortunes.

On the other hand, forgiving the people you love mean that you understand they are not perfect and that they are human who do and will make mistakes. Still, what if they can’t be forgiven? What if they hurt you so badly you don’t love them anymore?

Psychologists at the University of Tennessee believe that "forgiving personalities" live a healthier life because it releases the physiological burden of the negative and stressful feelings associated with betrayal. Not to mention that forgiving personalities are better in maintaining relationships and socially are more sparkling.

When you come to think about it, anyone for sure will feel a huge load of anger when betrayed.  The dilemma here is how easy is it for you to forgive someone? If you forgive, will it be worth it? Will he/she who hurt you learn the lesson or will he/she stab you at the back once more? Will you want to do it for the sake of that other person or for yourself to move on and let go?

Will you forgive?
