Listen to How Pain Can Turn into Music

Amazing! Take the pain, tear it apart and make something awesome out of it!

How many of us have pains? How many of us feel like we need to scream, say we are hurt and no one could listen? I think that applies to most of us at one point or another.

Zefrank creator of the blog http://www.zefrank.com  decided to make a pain pack, where he will literally turn pain into something joyful and what is more joyful than music? He asked people to send recorded messages of their emotional pains and describe it. He received 53 messages. After which, he sent them to musicians and DJs with this request:

"Please make sounds from these recordings by cutting, compressing, stretching, and distorting... any sort of manipulation at all. The resulting sounds can be percussive, ambient, tonal –anything –as long as they are derived from these voicemails and are not recognizable in any significant way."

In return he received 138 samples of amazing pieces of music derived and inspired from the emotional pain in the recordings. It is simply 138 pieces of music created from 53 pieces of pain.

He then asked one of the DJ who helped created the samples, Chris V, to describe his experience, and here is what he said:

"This is the kind of stuff I really like to do -- take samples and twist them like nuts to get unexpected rhythmic or musical effects. But I didn't expect it to be as emotionally exhausting as it was. I felt a responsibility to do each person's pain justice by making something crazy cool out of it, and I felt like crap when I couldn't. It was as if I failed to console them.

It makes me consider what kind of impact more empathy would have on our culture. Maybe if everyone attempted to be a bit more aware of other people and the shit they're really going through..."

This kind of work and empathy to create joy out of pain just makes me speechless. Only if we can apply it everywhere!
