The Butterfly Effect: You Are Changing the World Right Now

… Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these “It might have been!” - John Greenleaf Whittier

Isn’t it true? There comes many times in our lives where we think “what if we have done it differently?” Sometimes we get deluded into believing that it could be better. Well it ‘could’ be better but do we really know that for sure?

A point of view. That’s it. Just a point of view where we are thinking logically based on the little experience we have. The Dominoes Effect oriented thinking takes over. If I have chosen A, then B will happen and then I will have to choose between C and D. It’s all up to me but stupid me chose F instead. But that kind of thinking isn’t helpful. Is it? What’s done is done and nothing could really be done to change the past.

This perception only helps us expect the what if scenario based on things in our control. Of course many things that happen in our lives are based on our own decisions and is within our control area. The universe, however, have a little something more to add.

Sometimes things beyond your control happen that could make the greatest difference in the world. At most times, it is those things you do without even realizing. The fact that you have chosen F instead of A could really have a huge effect on the universe. The little things you do could do wonders without you having a clue.

For instance, you might make a random phone call to a friend just to say hi, which happened to wake him up while driving, saved his life and the many lives at stake on the street. Maybe there was no reason to call or maybe you thought you could have done something better with your time but the fact remains that you have saved his sleepy head life.

It’s called the Butterfly Effect, where little initial acts could save or cause high unforeseen future consequences. So let’s just cut the dreadful line of thought that “If I have chosen A instead of F, it would have been better.” You could really never know that but know for sure that you right here at that time in this place could be doing something great without having a glimpse of an idea.

“Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room.” - Christie Todd Whitman
