Doing You a Favor




We are accustomed to like people who have done us favors. They helped us after all. But did you know that those who have done us favors like us even more?

They would want to do us more and more favors expecting absolutely nothing from us especially if we don’t return the favor right away. They have got that sense that they have done us a favor because they like us not for any other reason. It’s called the Ben Franklin effect. Those who have done us favors will keep doing us more favors because they think they like us and vice versa. Those who have harmed us would want to harm us again and again.

In Benjamin Franklin words, “He that has once done you a Kindness will be more ready to do you another, than he whom you yourself have obliged. “

So if someone is doing you a favor. Let them. They like it. They like you even more. They will keep on helping you. Oh, and don’t return the favor right away. It will feel like a business transaction. If someone is hurting you, stop them right there. You don’t want to get hurt again.
